Quad Day Recap

Well, today VMGC and The Other Guys took to the quad to recruit members for the upcoming school year. All in all, the day was a great success; the weather was great (somehow I still got sunburnt) and Steve mentioned that we had over 100 people sign up for audition information! That's certainly a good number, so hopefully they will indeed audition and make it into the group. In the picture, Jake Varney questions a girl if she knows any guys who could sing while Travis Markley, Greg Potts, Steve Kim, and The Other Guys court another prospective VMGC member.

Quad Day

Quad Day is tomorrow from 12-4. We will have a booth on the Quad so please come and check us out. Also, the Other Guys are going to have a booth. Both booths will have information regarding both groups but, nonetheless, check out both of the groups to talk with some of the members and get more information!

New Student Convocation and Audition Information

We have been asked to sing at the New Student Convocation once again this year. The Convocation will be at Assembly Hall on the morning of Friday, August 21st. We will be singing the Illinois State Song and Hail to the Orange.

Audition for Transfer Students and for Freshmen will be on Sunday, August 23rd from 2-5. For everyone else, the auditions are from Monday - Wednesday (24-26th) from 10 - 1 and 2 - 5. If you are a transfer student or a freshmen, since Quad Day is on Sunday also, you are able to audition on another date if you feel that you are not adequately prepared. You can sign up for auditions via a sign up sheet that's placed on the office door of Krannert 4-411. The sign up sheet has already been posted.

If you are a NONMUSIC major, be sure to tell the judge(s) that you would like to audition for the Varsity Men's Glee Club. The School of Music has agreed to take into consideration your preference to which choir you would like to be in if you are a nonmusic major. If you ARE a music major, which choir you get put into will depend on the judge(s) evaluation. http://www.music.uiuc.edu/ensemblesChoir.php Here's the link with the audition excerpts and more information.

Please remember that EVERYONE needs to REAUDITION. Also, please REGISTER for MUS 263 and notice that our rehearsal time is no longer 6:30 - 8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays; time has changed to 5:30 - 7. Officer meetings have changed to Thursday from 7 - 7:30 (if on regular practice time). If a nonofficer wishes to bring up any ideas or suggestions to officers, please talk to an officer at least by Tuesday to join the officers for the meeting on Thursday.
